Whatever Jesus does on earth, he does through our hands, our voices, and our feet. Furthermore, every Christian is a valued member of the Body of Christ. This is clear from four key New Testament texts: I Corinthians 12-14; Romans 12:1-8; Ephesians 4:1-16; and I Peter 4:8-11 Your specific role in the Body is determined in part by the spiritual gifts that God has uniquely provided you. What are spiritual gifts? They may sound mystical or esoteric, but in reality they may be known and grasped by any of God's people. Spiritual gifts are:
- Special abilities to minister to others
- Given to every Christian (one gift or more)
- Given by the Holy Spirit, as God chooses
- Typically related to interests and yearnings that have long been part of your life, even before becoming a Christian
- Designed for use in the Body of Christ, not for personal fulfillment.
