The apostle Peter is often characterized as some sort of wild man who blurts out statements without thinking and brazenly steps out where others fear to tread. He also seems to get things wrong as often as he does right. With all of this, what we see most clearly is his desire to be a faithful follower of Jesus. In that way, he is much like each of us who has come within the sphere of influence of the man from Nazareth. The call of Jesus to us is just as real as the call to Peter. He says, “Come. Follow me.” Today, we’ll look at Peter’s life and how his story can inspire our own story.
