Simon the Zealot
Chris Malott | Sep 6, 2009 | Series: The Twelve
This week we end a journey through the lives of the twelve apostles with Simon the Zealot. Almost nothing is known about Simon outside of the fact that he was a fanatic, but what was he fanatical about? In our world, fanaticism and zealousness are often attributed to extreme political and religious radicals such as Al-Qaeda or the Taliban, willing to do anything to further their cause. Simon was specifically chosen by Jesus to be on his dream team of twelve because he had a cause. A cause that he would die for. We are called to follow the same cause … a cause that calls us to die to ourselves.
