3rd Sunday in Advent: Joy

December 11, 2022 | Jason Chapel

LISTEN TO TODAY'S READING

As we light the candle of Joy, we read from Isaiah 35:1-2.

The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.

It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God.

Rejoice! Hallelujah!

We read these words and are moved to reflect on what we are joyful for.

Hallelujah!
We sing this word and are moved by its meaning, to give praise to the Lord.

It is not just a word we say but it is something that we do. And knowing of the joy that comes with the Lord, knowing that the deserts shall blossom and the wilderness and solitary place shall be glad, we rejoice, singing Hallelujah.
We sing Hallelujah.

We sing Hallelujah!

For the lamb was born unto us.
A child, whose name is Emmanuel.

We rejoice because God became man for us.
We rejoice because we have not the ability to understand how this came to be.

This great mystery of God incarnate.
We behold the Son of Man, who took on flesh.
All will sing out; go on, shout it.

Hallelujah! He is God!
