LISTEN TO TODAY'S READING

Zephaniah 3:17 says,

The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

Our Creator God has done something that no other god can claim: he draws near to us just as we are. He doesn’t bargain with us; He doesn’t require something we don’t have; He isn’t afraid of our sin. He is, however, interested in forming and shaping us into in the image of Jesus Christ – the Mighty Warrior Zephaniah describes.

How is it that Love can be a Mighty Warrior? How is it that Love can live in the same space as War? This a mystery in and of itself. But did God not wage war on sin & death when He took on flesh as Immanuel, God with us? Did He not achieve His Victory when He defeated the grave? in Jesus Christ?

How can this be?
Love.
The Mighty Power of Love.
In the name of Love, Jesus took upon Himself flesh and the brutality that would delivered upon Him by sin and death.
Yet He sent it to the grave and left it there.
Once and for all.
For you.
For me.

Jesus loves you.
Jesus loves me.
Did he not leave the ninety-nine other sheep to rescue you from your rebellion against Him?
Who else can speak of possessing such love?

Only Jesus.
Who willfully became a baby, humble and powerless.
Only Jesus.
Who lovingly became our King,
humble and powerful.
Only Jesus.
Who is and will always define Love.
