Jesus is the light of the world | Week 2
December 7, 2025 | Addie Wood
Advent means the arrival of something noteworthy.
When we encounter the Advent season, we are often met with difficulties --- "peace" can seem opposed to our feelings.
And yet we claim our Savior to be the Prince of Peace.
In the chaos of our world, we can feel overwhelmed and troubled. We are busy and tired. We feel burdened and restless.
Isaiah 43:1-2 says “Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”
He called us by name. He has redeemed us. We are called his people. Through our troubles he provides his presence, his peace, his enduring love to comfort us. He reminds us that he is bringing chaos into order.
Can we experience his peace by trusting in his order?
Do we believe that we need to be redeemed?
Will we continue to listen to the one who is redeeming us?
