Jesus is the light of the world | Week 4
December 21, 2025 | Addie Wood
Advent means the arrival of something noteworthy.
God created us to be with him. He made us in his image and calls us his own. We are “very good.”
But our sin separates us from God. Our desire to go our own way caused a rift in our relationship with God. We saw his order, his plan, and still desired to take our lives into our own hands.
And yet, he still loves us. He still seeks after us. He wants us to come back to him. As a creator who loves his creation. As a father who loves his children. As a king who loves his people.
Psalm 36:7, 9-10 says
“How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart!”
His love is not just a feeling. It is long-suffering. Despite our sin, our brokenness, our want to control, he keeps coming back to us. He loves us so much that he sent his son down to earth to be our Savior.
He wants his creation to come back to him. He wants his created people to know and love him. He wants us to go and love others so that they may know and love him.
Do we believe that his love is greater than our sin?
Do we seek after God with the same intensity that he sought after us?
Do we love others like God loves us?
